"My career in education spans the best part of four decades during which time I have worked in schools in the UK and more recently China, where I have been Principal at The British School of Beijing – also part of the Nord Anglia global family of schools – for six years. TBS will be the fourth school of which I have had the privilege to be Head/Principal.
My wife, Clare, and I have three grown-up sons, one grandson who is almost two and an elderly Jack Russell called Bear! Our family home is in the South-West of England, in the beautiful county of Somerset. Outside of school, apart from trying to keep up with family comings and goings, my interests are mainly to be found in music (listening and composing), reading, following sports – occasionally even playing high handicap golf, and cooking – at which, what I may lack in culinary talent, I make up for with enthusiasm!"
“I began my secondary school teaching in 1989 when I took a post as a science teacher in Hamilton, Canada. After six years, I travelled to Europe for a post at an international school in Munich, Germany. This marked the beginning of 25 years of international education and my involvement with the IB programme, teaching IB Physics, Mathematics, and ToK. I also had a fantastic opportunity to teach physics and mathematics at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, as well as at MIT, and I have tried to continue conducting academic research in thermodynamics when time permits.
I have been an IB inspector, examiner, and workshop leader, and written a pre-IB Mathematics book.
My passions for film, history, and cats almost match my love of physics and mathematics. I have two grownup children in Vancouver and Auckland. This year marks twelve years of my work at TBS Warsaw and my return to Poland after almost 30 years’ absence.
"I have a love of history and hold a BA and a master's degree in archaeology from the University of Liverpool. I completed my post-graduate teacher training through the West London Partnership at Kingston and Roehampton Universities."
I began my teaching career in Clapham, London, where I worked for five years before moving to BIS Hanoi in Vietnam, part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools. After four wonderful years in Hanoi, we moved to Warsaw in 2018 to be a little closer to home whilst raising a young family.
I am extremely proud of our Primary team, and in 2021, I was able to successfully lead the school through its first IPC accreditation. Before becoming Head of Primary, I served as both Deputy Head and Acting Head at TBS Warsaw. I am honoured and excited to lead the primary school, and I take pride in my role as both a school leader and a parent. Outside of school, I enjoy playing football, cooking, playing the guitar, and spending time with my family exploring Warsaw.
