Frequently asked questions

  • When was Nord Anglia International School (NAS) Dubai founded?
NAS Dubai opened its doors to international students in September 2014. Situated in Al Barsha 3 South, today our school is home to children and families of more than 90 nationalities.
  • How do I apply to NAS Dubai?

Our admissions process is tailored to your family’s needs and schedule, and our teams will support you every step of the way.

    • Register your interest by submitting our online enquiry form, sending an email, or giving us a call.
    • We'll arrange a Personalised Virtual Tour and Discovery Meeting. You'll learn more about NAS Dubai and have the chance to ask questions.
    • Next, you'll submit an online application form and supporting documents, pay our application fee, and schedule an in-person tour of our campus.
    • We'll then arrange for your child to take our online admissions assessment. We'll send you the outcome of the assessment within one week. You'll then have a few days to respond.
    • All being well, we'll send you an enrolment offer. You'll need to accept and pay our enrolment fee.
  • Will my child need to sit an entrance assessment?
Yes, all prospective students sit an entrance assessment. We'll arrange this with you as part of the admissions process.
  • Do you welcome children with limited or no English?
To ensure every child can make the most of our curriculum, prospective students need to have a good level of English. We'll assess this as part of our admissions process.
  • What do your tuition fees include?
Our tuition fees include all of your child's academic teaching and learning. The fees you’ll pay also cover many of our extra-curricular activities and Nord Anglia Education collaborations with MIT, The Juilliard School, and UNICEF. These unlock passions and talents, and shape our learners’ goals and ambitions.
  • What curriculum do you teach?

We teach an internationally enhanced English National Curriculum from the Early Years and Primary through to Secondary (IGCSEs). Our British curriculum is globally recognised as one of the best in the world.

We then offer a choice of either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme or A-Levels in Sixth Form (Years 12 and 13).

  • Which Sixth Form programme is right for my child?

In Sixth Form, we offer two programmes: the IB Diploma and A-Levels

The IB Diploma is a stimulating, well-rounded curriculum, which is designed for students who are looking for a more interdisciplinary approach. A-Levels are more suitable for learners who want to pursue a particular subject pathway.

Both options lead to qualifications that are recognised by top universities around the world.

  • What languages do you offer?

From Nursery through to Year 13, all students study at least one world language: French, German, Mandarin or Spanish. Non-Arab passport holders also take Arabic classes until the end of Year 10. Arab passport holders, meanwhile, study the Arabic language to end of Year 12. Our IB Diploma students can also choose Arabic or their mother tongue as Language A.

More broadly, we also understand the importance of language learning and keeping. At NAS Dubai, we strive to provide quality classes so that students can continue to learn their desired language and take additional qualifications. We offer opportunities either in school or through external providers as part of our Enrichment Activities Programme (NAS Language Academy).

  • What size are your classes?
The average number of students per class is typically around 22. In Sixth Form, our class sizes are generally much smaller.
  • What qualifications do your teachers have?

All our teachers are highly motivated and experienced, and have university degrees and UK teaching qualifications (Post Graduate Certificate of Education). Many have also undertaken further study to enhance their skills, including through Nord Anglia University, which offers a Master’s in International Education.

  • How long do your teachers stay at your school?

We have a low turnover rate that ensures continuity and excellence in teaching. Some teachers have even been with us since we opened in 2014.

Most of our educators are British, with a few joining us from other English-speaking countries. Our language teachers are native speakers of the subject they teach. This adds to the diversity and internationalism of our school.

  • Does the school employ teaching assistants?

Yes, we employ highly qualified teaching assistants.

In the Early Years, we have one teacher and two assistants per class, who typically support 20 students. In Primary, we have one teacher and one teaching assistant in each classroom. In Secondary and Sixth Form, specialist teachers are supported by expert subject technicians.

  • What school trips do you organise at NAS Dubai?

We offer a wide variety of educational trips beyond the classroom, which build cultural awareness and develop an array of lifelong skills. On some expeditions, students work with local communities, where they learn about the world and understand the importance of helping others. This includes our annual trip to the Nord Anglia centre in Tanzania, as well as week-long expeditions to Malaysia, Oman, Nepal and Thailand.

On all our trips, student safety and wellbeing come first. We conduct risk assessments and you will always know who is responsible for your child's care.

  • What sports do you offer?

We pride ourselves on our pursuit of sporting excellence, which is delivered in an encouraging 'sport-for-all' environment.

Our students compete in Dubai Affiliated Schools Sports Association (DASSA) leagues, including football, rugby, netball, cricket, rounders, aquathon, athletics, basketball and swimming. We also offer more than 500 fixtures over the course of the year, from Year 3 to Year 13, which give students of all ages a myriad of opportunities to compete.

  • Do you have a performing arts programme?

We’re passionate about the performing arts, and our students experience dance, drama and music from the Early Years through to Year 9, when they become subjects of choice. We strongly believe that all three subjects play a crucial role in developing intelligent, confident and well-rounded global citizens.

Our performing arts programme is enriched by our collaboration with The Juilliard School, which gives our students and teachers a unique opportunity to benefit from leading-edge expertise and resources. And through the NAS Music Academy, all our students have the opportunity to play an instrument or take vocal lessons.
