Secondary Campus Weekly Update 27 Oct 2025

Dear Parents,

It has been a fantastic week, with many student led initiatives. Well done to all students who have applied for the Student Leadership Council and leadership committees. I look forward to the interview process over the coming weeks.

Thank you to Ms Kwong and Ms Teh for representing NAIS HK at the Social Impact Conference, and to Bulut, Nicolas, Tara, Gabrielle, and Fang Yi for attending the first NAE Regional Social Impact Conference in Guangzhou. Here, our students reflected upon NAIS HK’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and planned impactful World Children’s Day activities aligned with the UNCRC. Their work was reviewed by the NAE Social Impact team, including Dr. Leslie Williams.

We are grateful to the British International School of Guangzhou for hosting this inspiring event, which empowered our students to lead meaningful change in our community.

Last week, many of our students met with BSO inspectors, who were deeply impressed by their thoughtful insights and commitment to driving positive change. It was a privilege to tour the team through our classrooms and learning spaces. I couldn’t be prouder of how our students and staff embodied our school’s values.

Social Impact Conference – Gobby Kwong and Sinead Teh

Our five student representatives—Bulut, Nicolas, Tara, Gabrielle, and Fang Yi —returned from the Plan for Hope conference, which took place from October 23, 2025. They proudly represented NAIS HK alongside six other Nord Anglia schools in the China region for the first ever NAE Regional Social Impact conference.
Our students began by evaluating NAIS HK’s fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting on our school’s contributions to global challenges and identifying areas for growth.

Secondary Campus Weekly Update 27 Oct 2025 - Secondary Campus Weekly Update 27 Oct 2025

With World Children’s Day approaching, the budding leaders had the opportunity to plan a series of activities across all three campuses that align with the SDGs and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These initiatives aim to raise awareness of children’s rights and the importance of sustainability, engaging students in meaningful discussions and hands-on projects. Their initiatives were evaluated by key members of the NAE Social Impact team including the Group Head of Social Impact and EDIB, Dr. Leslie Williams.

The conference has not only inspired our student leaders to become active agents of change but also set the stage for impactful initiatives that will benefit our entire school community and contribute to a brighter, more equitable future for all children. The students would like to thank British International School of Guangzhou for hosting this wonderful opportunity.

Match Reports

U16 Girls Volleyball
What an exhilarating season it has been for our U16 Girls Volleyball squad in the ISSFHK Division 2 league! As the newly promoted team, following a stunning victory in Division 3 last year, they have taken the league by storm, clinching an impressive 7 wins out of 8 matches. With this stellar performance, they proudly sit at the top of the table as we head into the playoffs!

But it hasn't been a walk in the park. The girls showcased remarkable resilience and unwavering determination throughout the season. Their mantra of "mind over matter" has truly shone through.

Take, for instance, their thrilling showdown against HKIS! After a shaky start marked by miscommunication and a bit of rustiness in their sets and spikes—thanks to a long break—the team found themselves down a set. But did they falter? Absolutely not! With grit and tenacity, they rallied back in set two, igniting the crowd’s energy, and stormed through to claim set three, ultimately defeating HKIS 2-1 in a heart-pounding comeback!

Then came the nail-biter against AISHK, where the tension was palpable! Points swung back and forth like a pendulum until our girls seized the lead at 20. Fueled by their passion for victory and powered by phenomenal serves, precise three-hit attacks, and stellar blocking, they clinched the first set in dramatic fashion! With the sweet scent of victory in the air, the girls were unstoppable, dominating the second set and cruising to an easy win!

As we gear up for the playoffs, the excitement is electric! The team is aiming high and setting their sights on gold. Let’s rally behind our champions and cheer them on as they continue their quest for glory!
