Strawberry Science: Unlocking the Secrets of DNA

On Friday the 12th February G5DH extracted DNA from strawberries. They started by making the solution, the solution was meant to break down everything and leave the DNA. They also added some salt to make the DNA crystal. They had help from a science teacher from the secondary school and that is the strawberry science.

Strawberry Science: Unlocking the Secrets of DNA To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Grade 5 students extracted DNA from a favorite fruit.

To commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, students across the Primary School took part in special STEAM activities. Our Grade 5 students explain - in their own words - how they extracted DNA from a strawberry!
